Only a few seconds are enough to search through the base of million
games on the most up-to-date computers. It automatically reduces the
time for the preparation, so that it is very useful at the tournaments.
Working on the opening theory the principle of the tree is used where
by branching of the variants it is easy to come to a certain position,
which is defined with possible prolongations and accompanying statistics
for the given position. The latest version is Chess Assistant 5.0, although
it is only a bit improved version of Chess Assistant 4.0, which is remarkable. An excellent software not only in searching, but also used by most people in commenting games. With the symbols of Chess informant which are generally accepted, Chess Base enables easier writing of books and magazines about chess. The search of the base of a million games lasts about a minute on the most up-to-date computers. It contains the Encyclopaedia of players which makes it possible to get the information about the future opponent as well as the statistics of his results available to the editing team. Work on the opening theory is made easier so that the complete picture of a certain variant is obtained very fast. The latest version of Chess Base 7.0 appeared in 1998, but is supplemented with the new, arranged bases the latest being MEGA 2000. Chess Informant Reader, which appeared in November 1999 is, at the moment, the only chess software coming from Yugoslavia. It is, in fact, the electronic edition of all the publications of the Chess Informant. There are the Informants 1-77, then Encyclopeadia of the openings A,B,C,D and E, the Little encyclopeadia, which appeared last year and certain monographs which have appeared lately. The software is characterized by the outstanding review and the easy transfer from one publication to the other. It has the possibility of searching through the filter and the advantage to order publications individually, according to the buyer's taste.
Playing and analysis softwareThe latest version of the software which is at the moment the best chess program in the world. The previous versions Fritz 5.32 and Fritz 5 were also extraordinary and indicated the full indepandance, because the earlier versions were connected with Chess Base. Fritz 6 is easy to operate, for playing as well as for analysis. The analysis can be saved and occasionally supplemented. It is estimated that its chess power is over 2700, and it is enough to mention that at the last-year-tournament it was ahead of Leko, Topalov, Svidler, Morozevich and Adams. It is necessary to load the book of opening which can be ordered separately, because it has continually being supplemented. The latest appeared under the name Power book 2000.
Software which has rivaled Fritz for a
long time. It is easy-to-view and gives enough windows during the game.
Probably the most attractive software
which can be found in any catalogue. It is characterized by a great
number of chess sets and written texts. It is on two CD and is certainly
the most interesting for the chess fans.
Software which was, the same as Fritz,
made by the firm Chess Base and often serves as the thinking machine
inside Chess Base.
It can be said the same about it
as about Hiarcs 7.32.
One of the best softwares at the
moment, which relies a lot on the opening theory and the great data
base.
