Yugoslav Chess Federation

Men's YU cup finals

This year the Final Cup of Yugoslavia was held from 27.05. to 02.06.2000 in the hotel "Plaza" in Herceg Novi. After seven-day-long matches among 18 teams, the team "Agrouniverzal" from Zemun took the first place, and in that way proved once again that it is currently the leading team on the Yugoslav scene.The second place was taken by the team "Beko" from Belgrade, which generally plays well at the cups, and the most pleasant surprise was certainly the third place of the team "Partizan" from Belgrade. Then come three teams (Jugobanka-Stocar banka from cacak, Montenegrobanka from Podgorica and Radonja Bojovic from Niksic ), which had been ranked among the favourites before the opening, but at the end had to be satisfied with the 4-6 places.The winner team "Agrouniverzal" played with the following players: grand master Beliavsky, grand master Damljanovic, grand master Ilincic, grand master Drasko, grand master Pavlovic and grand master Vukic, who was also the captain of the team. The following players made the second-placed team of "Beko": grand master Sakaev, grand master Velimirovic, international master Ivanisevic, international master Pikula, international master Markovic I.and international master Arsovic G. For "Partizan" played: grandmaster Lastin, international master Brenjo, international master Bakic and international master Stojanovic M.

Women's YU cup finals

This year competition in the Women Cup was extremely exciting. Since the very beginning it was clear that only two teams would compete for the first place and that the uncertainty would remain until the last round, or more exactly to the last match. In the end the team "Agrouniverzal" from Zemun was the winner and it had been considered as the absolute favourite before the beginning.The team "BAS" from Belgrade won the second place.These two teams had the same number of points at the end, but "Agrouniverzal" won in the direct contact and that was decisive. It should be mentioned that the uncertainty was present until the end itself, because the last game between Natasa Bojkovic and Jordanka Micic ended draw, and if Natasa had won the game, "BAS" would have been the first."Agrouniverzal" consisted of: grand master Maric Alisa, grandmaster Prudnikova Svetlana, grandmaster Choluskina Irina and the reserve master Todorovic Violeta. The following players played for "BAS": grandmaster Bojkovic Natasa, grandmaster Manakova Marija, intermaster Markovic Gordana and intermaster Kostic Maja. "LORA-Cement " was consisted of: grandmaster Velcheva Marija, intermaster Petronic Sanja, master candidate Ujhazi Danijela and the reserve MK Jovanovic Slavojka.
